Well, it took a couple weeks, but I've finally gotten around to posting photos from my birthday weekend. I'll start off by explaining the theme. In all honesty, every time I tried to come up with a plan for the impending celebration, I just felt lazy about planning something. I knew that I wanted it to be a weekend affair, since it was my 30th, but I really just didn't want to put the effort into a big event. Then it occurred to me that my birthday weekend was the same weekend that Eat Pray Love came out in theaters. It just so happens that I adore the book, so it was an easy decision to make my festivities correlate with each of its three sections: Italy, India, and Indonesia.
In the spirit of Liz's going to Italy to learn about embracing pure pleasure through the art of eating, I wanted to pick a more authentic Italian restaurant in which to dine. Thus, we opted for Alfredo's Italian Restaurant, where the waiters kept calling Avery "Princess" and even sang 'Happy Birthday' to me in Italian. And as luck would have it, I ended up picking the best entree of our group.

In homage to Liz's four months in India at an ashram, Shelly and I took yoga on Saturday morning. It was my first class since the week I had Avery.
On Saturday afternoon, we had lunch at Bhojanic Restaurant, which was quite an experience since only three of us had previously eaten in an Indian restaurant.

Instead of eating at an Indonesian restaurant on Sunday, we decided to go to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, as Bali is known for its beauty. Here is the group: Brent, Joanna, Anna Kate, and Carson (behind AK), Me, Avery and Ed, and Sarah.
We love this picture because it captured Avery's "enjoyment" of the garden. Right away, she brushed up against some reeds that were in the walkway and decided that she did not like the plants touching her. Therefore, anytime she was walking in an area that appeared the least bit overgrown, she shrugged up and walked through as fast as she could. The funniest part is when she'd scrunch up even when there was four feet clearance on either side of her!

My actual birthday was spent relaxing at home. I made yummy pink lemonade cupcakes and Ed cooked gourmet creamy lemon basil pasta for dinner. It was a lovely day that capped off a wonderful weekend.
