Just a little quick update to give you some pictures and say I hope everyone's having a nice holiday weekend. Ours, however, has not turned out the way we'd been planning it, but we should be used to flying by the seat of our pants with two kids by now, right? Avery and Owen have both been sick with a tummy bug since yesterday morning. Avery seemed leaps and bounds better by this afternoon. She'd gotten her appetite back, sang a song about us for us, and was back to her usual self, wanting to play and go outside. Owen, while no longer throwing up today, has switched to the other method for quickly getting rid of fluids. So, unfortunately for us, I'm still not certain we'll make it to the Renaissance Festival tomorrow, which is a bummer because this is a big week for us.
Avery gave up her pacifier, finally (and, well, not really by her own choosing, but she did allow it to happen without a fight). She's only had it for naps and nighttime for a while now, but it was finally time to be done with it for good. I honestly think she would've kept it for years more if we'd have let her. So, anyhow, I've made a big deal all week about her accomplishment and done a lot of fun things with her to remind her of what a big girl she is and show her how proud I am of her for letting it go.
And truth be told, between this weekend and last weekend, two of the hardest parts of life without paci have been tested - last weekend, she and Owen had a head-to-head collision, and she only asked for her mankie; and then with the 24-hr bug the past two days, she didn't once ask for it. So there's some silver lining for ya.
Anyway, it's been an interesting month in the Reagin household, as always. I had a cyst removed in the end of April, so this month has been all about healing. We also started our search for a new (used) van because we simply do not fit into my jetta anymore and it's making me crazy. In other news, we are currently finalizing our plans for Avery to start preschool in the next school year. We've seen a few and have another tour next week, and after that should know where we want her to be. It all really should've been done a couple months ago, but better late than never. And she's excited about it all. She can't wait to go to "school."
Well, guess I've gotta cut this post short, because there's my boy crying to be fed. (Yep, he still nurses too many times a night for my liking, but alas....)
