Avery's First Roadtrip

Well, we are halfway to Camp Nana South in sunny Bradenton, Florida.

The trip has gone well so far - we are stopping every few hours for a feeding and a fresh diaper. Getting back in the car seat is not welcome to Avery for a few minutes after each break.

Mommy is sitting in the back with the princess, keeping her happy.

Hopefully we'll reach Nana's by 7pm.

Mother's Day

So last Sunday, I got to celebrate my first Mother's Day. And Ed did a great job of making it a really special day for me. When we got up, he made Finnish pancakes (essentially crepes) that we topped with lemon curd and powdered sugar. Since they take longer to make than regular pancakes, we were able to get some good up-close photos of Avery while we waited.
























After the yummy breakfast, I took my first bath since having Avery. Then, because the weather was nice, we took some photos of Avery and I outside in honor of the occasion. (We're going to do the same on Father's Day, too.) Right before we went outside, Ed gave me Avery's gift - a beautiful pair of aquamarine earrings (Avery's birthstone). They were exactly what I'd hoped for.
























For dinner, Ed cooked my favorite meal from Anthony's Fine Dining (where we'd had our Rehearsal Dinner). It was Chicken Wellington, which he'd never even attempted to make before. He did a great job - it was really good and I'm still eating leftovers from it! With dinner, he gave me a lovely card about how 'the best gift a father can give to his children is to love their mother.' I also enjoyed a spectacular glass of blueberry wine with my meal, and you all have to know how exciting that was for me after a very long time without it!
























Needless to say, I am very lucky to have such a wonderful husband, and Avery is very lucky to have such a great daddy. We can't wait to return the love on Father's Day (minus the gourmet cooking, of course!).

Our Second Playdate

Kelly, Liam, Avery, and I got a chance to visit again last Thursday. She drove down from Buford and we all spent the day together. We had a good day full of nursing, sleeping (mostly Liam), and chatting. Kelly also taught us a new game: if we stick out our tongue at Avery when she's focusing on us, she'll stick out hers, too. It's very cute and we have video of it from that evening (maybe we'll post it sometime soon). It's really nice to have a friend with a baby the same age as Avery. I hope to have many more visits like this one. Maybe both daddies can be present soon, too.

Stay tuned for another post about my first Mother's Day. It took a lot of effort to complete this one this morning. Maybe I'll get Ave to sleep and can do the other one (or maybe it'll just have to wait until tonight!).

We've made a breakthrough!

I am happy to report that Avery finally likes her swing! We took a chance last night and put her in it in an attempt to eat dinner at the same time (for once), and she accepted it. As you can see by the first photo, she actually noticed the mobile and mirror and was quite interested in them. Then she fell asleep. And she continued to sleep through a buzzillion pictures FOR THREE HOURS! (Of course, I realized a little too late that this long nap may greatly impact our bedtime... but I am happy to say that Avery was not too difficult to get to sleep afterwards either. I just had to lay with her and sing to her for a bit and she went right to sleep.)

Anyhow, enjoy the photos. By the way, we used the swing again tonight to eat dinner. (We took her out of it right afterwards though - we didn't want to push our luck!) On an unrelated note: Avery also gave me quite a few great big grins when I was playing with her on her changing pad today. Unfortunately, the camera was not nearby, so the best I could do was catch one on my phone.

Our first outing

It's been a good weekend here at Villa Reagin. On Saturday, we bathed Avery first thing in the morning to prepare for a wedding later that evening. Not 2 hours later, we re-bathed her when she had a large diaper creation (child-less friends I am sparing the details; parents, you know what we went through) that miraculously only ruined her outfit.

After bath # 2 we dressed Avery in her pretty pink dress (it was big, but not noticeable while she was wearing it).

Mommy and Daddy dressed me up in an adorable pink dress and I posed for a few pictures before we left.

We got everyone else dressed and ready for the wedding, and left for Hiram, GA... We were actually on time!

The wedding went VERY smoothly. Avery didn't fuss during the ceremony (she started making hunger sounds about half way through, but the soothie came to the rescue!)

After the ceremony, Avery really enjoyed the reception. She wasn't thrilled about meeting people at first, but quickly adjusted to people gushing over her. She really enjoyed the music and the moving lights on the ceiling. She and I danced a little bit off to the side during the "Everybody clap your hands" song that always gets played by DJs. Avery was okay with it, I enjoyed playing with her, and Mommy caught us and was amused.

She's looking at me like I had just told Al Gore that global warming is a myth. Actually, this is us dancing.

I am pretty sure I petered out first, so we left when the bouquet and garter were being tossed. 9:30 is pretty late for our sweet pea too, so I didn't feel like too much of a curmudgeon. Avery slept in the car, then slept for a full 6 hours overnight! Yaay for personal records!

She has been sleeping off and on all day today. She spent at least 3 hours sleeping on my arm in the green chair. She also slept through most of the video broadcast to Great-Grandma and Nana in Florida.

But not so sleepy that she won't wake up for a feed and a change!
