Well, she didn't scream. So that's a plus. But as you can see, she wasn't exactly thrilled to be meeting the jolly man in red. When he wasn't bouncing her on his knee trying to make her smile (she didn't), she was staring at him with her brows furrowed. She never made a peep though, and we all thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the affair (which, after all, the whole charade is just for us anyway, right?).
Avery also sat in on Andy's photo with Santa (but I don't have a copy of that one yet) - the reason we went to this one in particular is that he's been Andy's Santa his entire life. We found out while we were there that this Santa has been at this mall for 22 years. Hopefully, he plans to be around a while longer so that we can actually get a picture of Avery smiling on his lap one of these years.
This picture turned out even better than our usual family shot in this pose:
Avery was great the entire time with Mimi and Uncle Andy (despite the fact that she still wouldn't smile for a picture). I thought this was a good shot of them:
After we were done with Santa, Ed had to go back to work and the rest of us shopped around for a few things, then had lunch. It was a really nice visit and Uncle Andy proved to be a great distraction for Ave from the mundane task of shopping.
Once we got home, I decided to take a few more photos of Avery in her fancy schmancy dress. It is a fantastic hand-me-down from our neighbors, so I wanted to make sure to get plenty of pictures of her in it. Who knows when she'll wear it again.
Pretty much all of these warm my heart. Hope they do for you, too.
Anyhow, Merry Christmas, Everyone. We love you and wish we could see you all. We hope you have a wonderful day filled with family, friends, and love.
